Hip Bath Therapy at Revine Naturopathy
At Revine Naturopathy, we offer a special treatment called Hip Bath Therapy, a powerful form of hydrotherapy. This therapy involves sitting in a specially designed tub filled with water to help improve your health and well-being. The water covers your hips and reaches up to your navel, providing a soothing and healing experience.
Types of Hip Bath Therapy
We offer four types of hip baths: cold, hot, neutral and alternate. Each type has its unique benefits and is used for different health conditions. Here’s how we do it with our patients:
1. Cold Hip Bath
How We Do It: We prepare the tub with water at a temperature between 18-24°C. The patient sits in the tub for about 15 minutes. If they feel cold or weak, we provide a hot foot bath simultaneously.
Our therapists gently rub the patient’s abdomen with a moderately coarse wet cloth to enhance the effect. After the bath, we encourage patients to engage in moderate exercise or yoga to warm up the body.
Benefits:
- Relieves constipation and indigestion.
- Helps with obesity.
- Improves the function of eliminative organs.
- Alleviates menstrual problems and piles.
- Assists with conditions like an enlarged prostate gland and sterility.
Note: We do not recommended this bath for patients with acute inflammation in the pelvic and abdominal organs.
2. Hot Hip Bath
How We Do It: We heat the water to a temperature between 40-45°C and have the patient drink a glass of cold water before starting.
A cold compress is placed on the patient’s head to keep them comfortable. The patient stays in the bath for about 10 minutes.
Immediately after the bath, they take a cold shower to prevent any chills. Our therapists closely monitor the patient to ensure they do not feel dizzy or experience excessive pain.
Benefits:
- Eases painful menstruation and pelvic organ pain.
- Helps with painful urination and piles.
- Benefits conditions like an enlarged prostate gland and sciatica.
3. Neutral Hip Bath
How We Do It: We set the water temperature between 32-36°C. The patient drinks one or two glasses of cold water and sits in the tub for 15-20 minutes.
A cold compress is placed on their head for comfort. During this time, we advise patients to avoid any friction to the abdomen.
After the bath, they relax for 30 minutes to maximize the benefits.
Benefits:
- Helps relieve inflammation in the bladder, urethra, and uterus.
- Aids in treating constipation, piles, and menstrual disorders.
4. Alternate Hip Bath
How We Do It: We use two tubs with hot and cold water. The hot tub is set at 40-45°C and the cold tub at 18-24°C. There are two methods we follow:
The patient sits in the hot tub for 5 minutes and then in the cold tub for 5 minutes.
Alternatively, they spend 3 minutes in the hot tub and 1 minute in the cold tub, repeated 4-5 times.
Throughout the process, we ensure the patient’s head is kept cool with a cold compress. The treatment concludes with a cold hip bath.
Benefits:
- Relieves gastric pressure and constipation.
- Reduces back pain.
- Helps with chronic inflammation of pelvic organs.
- Stimulates kidney and genitourinary organ functions.
